Storm the ‘fat bouncy’ pup and Barney the ‘incredibly playful’ boy are among the dogs looking for a new home in Suffolk.

Here are seven pooches currently at the Suffolk Animal Rescue Centre.

Could you give one of these dogs their forever home?

Chester

Chester is looking for an active house and owners who understand how crazy a lurcher can be.

His new owners should be experienced enough to continue his training and be able to keep his mind busy while teaching him more about the world.

He knows a few basic commands and works well on dogma.

Chester loves the attention and the stories, but he can get overly excited and “mouthy” – although the staff say he’s getting better at not doing that.

Age: 18 months

Raising: Lürcher’s Cross

Can he live with other animals and children? Cannot live with other animals or children, but could have dog friends.

Storm

Unfortunately, Storm didn’t have the best start to her life.

He is looking for an experienced home that understands dogs and is willing to continue to educate him.

Storm loves human contact and doesn’t like to be left alone. He may also react badly to other dogs and cats.

He is full of energy and would be happy to spend all day playing with his new owners.

Center staff say Storm has lots of love to give and enjoys chasing leaves and playing with her toys.

Age: 9 months

Raising: German shepherd

Can he live with other animals and children? No

Barney

Barney has been at the animal shelter for some time and is an incredibly playful boy who loves other dogs.

He is very nervous around new people and takes a long time to get used to. He will therefore need several visits before he feels comfortable with the potential new owners.

Staff say he is a very loyal dog who enjoys scratching and hunting games when comfortable in his surroundings.

Age: 2 years

Raising: Sharpei (bone mouth)

Can he live with other animals and children? Barney can live with other dogs and can be tested on a cat, but he cannot live with children.

Princess

Princes is an old maid looking for a warm sofa to sleep on.

She suffers from a grade 4 heart murmur that will require ongoing treatment and has very little experience of the outside world.

She is looking for a slow paced home and loves short walks or time spent in the garden.

Although Princess likes to be outside, she can’t get much exercise because of her heart murmur.

Age: 9 and a half

Raising: Jack Russell meets Patterdale

Can she live with other animals and children? Princess can live with older calm dogs, can be cat tested, and can live with older, sensitive children.

Rosco

Rosco is looking for his forever couch to soak up the sun.

He craves attention from people, loves belly scratches and a game of tug of war.

Due to the fact that Rosco has been treated for cancer, he is looking for a quiet, rural home.

All his veterinary costs will be covered by the rescue center.

Rosco is also looking for a female-only home with no children or other pets.

Age: Older

Raising: Staff

Can he live with other animals and children? No

Wally

Wally, who has been in foster care for a while now, is an energetic boy who likes to be on the go.

He has lived with other dogs before but is now looking for a home where he is the only dog.

He should be walked on a muzzle because he will talk when he gets overexcited or frustrated.

Wally is looking for experienced owners who can channel all his energy into something good.

Age: 17 months

Raising: Lurcher (husky cross collie cross saluki cross greyhound)

Can he live with other animals and children? No

Policeman

Bobby unfortunately had a failed adoption and is now in foster care awaiting his ideal home.

He is very responsive to touch and has a history of biting, so he needs a home that understands his behaviors and gives him space.

Can he live with other animals and children? Bobby can possibly live with another dog and trusting cats, but cannot live with children.
