–Wahl teams up with Greater Good Charities and animal advocate Lee Asher to shed light on the power of grooming on dog adoption–

STERLING, Ill., October 4, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — October is Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month, and it’s the perfect time to shine the spotlight on some incredible shelter dogs who have undergone incredible transformations. The sad truth is that less than half of dogs entering shelters receive the grooming they need due to a lack of resources. The effects of neglect or a life on the streets can often overshadow these adorable dogs and all too often they are neglected by adoptive families. That’s why Wahl, a leader in the pet industry, and Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit, have teamed up again for the 11e Annual Dirty Dogs contest. Wahl donated grooming supplies to rescues and shelters across the country, and they in turn shared amazing before and after grooming photos – including the Top 10 Shelter Dog Makeovers of 2022.

To help raise the voice of these remarkable pet stories, Wahl is working with an animal advocate again Lee Asher to promote this year’s Dirty Dogs contest. Dog lovers are a breed all their own, and some would say Lee Asher leads the pack. After traveling the country for the past several years with his group of rescue pooches, Asher now runs an animal sanctuary, welcoming at-risk animals while continuing to educate people about the benefits of dog rescue.

“If shelter dogs could talk, they’d have amazing stories to tell; unfortunately, they can’t,” Asher said. “I’m happy to lend my voice and help shed light on the importance of grooming when it comes to adoption. Good grooming and a little TLC can change a dog’s life; not only do they feel healthier and happier, but their true selves can also finally shine in. Sometimes that’s all it takes to capture their new human’s heart.
